the Ultrasound department

Enjoy the convenience of having your ultrasound in the same office as your physician.  We can usually schedule your ultrasound appointment the same day as your visit with the doctor.  Each physician then has the opportunity to review the ultrasound images and review the report with you during your appointment.

We provide several different types of ultrasounds in the office.

Pelvic ultrasounds visualize the uterus and ovaries.  This type of ultrasound may be useful in diagnosing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, ovarian cysts, and many other gynecologic problems.

We offer early Nuchal Translucency Screening to our obstetrical patients.  NT screening is a prenatal screening test, not a diagnostic test, that can estimate your risk for 3 chromosome conditions.  It consists of an early 11-13 week ultrasound combined with a blood test to estimate the chance of an infant with Down’s syndrome, Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13.  If identified as having an increased risk for any of these chromosomal abnormalities, a woman can then pursue further testing to rule out a problem.

We also offer Second trimester fetal scans with 3D and 4D.  This scan helps our doctors determine if you baby is developing normally, the location of the placenta and baby’s sex if you would like to know.  It also helps to identify any possible fetal abnormalities.  With 3D and 4D it may be possible for you to see your baby’s face for the first time.

How to prepare:

  1. Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing.
  2. Most of our exams are done with an empty bladder.
  3. We do allow other family members to accompany you for the exam.  However; please remember that this is a detailed examination requiring concentration by your sonographer, so please use your discretion.
