Dr. Marco Uribe

 

Dr. Marco Uribe’s gynecological practice at Austin Area OB/GYN focuses on preventive care, preconceptual counseling, infertility, menopause, and the diagnosis and management of pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence. This includes urodynamic testing to better determine the specific causes of voiding dysfunction. He has also been working with bio identical hormone therapy for over 20 years, and focuses on replacement therapy that helps restore a woman’s hormone balance with the intent of achieving a better quality of life.

Dr. Uribe has an interest in both high-risk and low risk obstetrics. He has also had extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including performing complex procedures with hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, which significantly reduce postoperative recovery time.

He is assisted in his office practice by his physician assistant Amy Grove, who is a graduate of Medical College of Georgia. Amy has a special interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome and infertility. His practice is also complemented by his NP/CNM Natalie Carreras who trained at Emory University. Natalie has a special interest in bio identical hormone replacement therapy.

Dr. Marco Uribe is a native of Laredo, Texas where he grew up as the only son among seven sisters. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals in Houston where he served as Chief Resident. He began his practice at AAOBGYN in 1994 after spending several years at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston where he served as Assistant Chief of OB/GYN.

Dr. Uribe is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of the Texas Medical Society, the Travis County Medical Society, and a number of specialty related organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Physician Distribution and Healthcare Access Committee of the TMA. He has held a clinical faculty position at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and he has received numerous faculty of the year teaching awards for surgical instructional training. His clinical skills have been recognized by numerous organizations and periodicals including Austin Monthly, Austin Fit, and Texas Monthly.

He and his wife Melissa have a very close knit family. He enjoys raising horses, ranching, fishing, and watching his sons participate in numerous sports activities.

Dr. Uribe and several members of his staff are fluent in Spanish.
